Users review: My wife and I took our niece to the theater for this and it was a good time. Vince Vaughn plays Fred, the grumpy and unhappy brother of the real Santa Claus (Paul Giamatti). When things get tough year to the North Pole where Santa Claus lives, he sends his separate visit him and help brother. It seems that the husband of the wicked efficiency (Kevin Spacey) is on the verge of closing Santas massive toy manufacturing operation permanently if certain standards are not maintained, and this low-life and to make every effort to make sure that things are recovering. I usually do not like Kevin Spacey, but it was perfect for this part, and I liked the whole cast too, actually. Its getting to the point where I'd go see any movie with Paul Giamatti in it, and even if you think he was not physically right for the role of Father Christmas it does the job. I found this fun and festive, with something to say about that hurt feelings and abuse can do to turn good people bad (ie, do nice people naughty). I especially got a kick out of a scene with the types of meetings for disgruntled brothers, where familiar faces made cameos Syblings anonymous. Theres good music featured throughout as well, and not all necessarily Christmas songs. |
