There must be some hard core fans of Ferrell there.Let me first state that I am not familiar with Will Ferrell, but I assume that he is one of a long line of Saturday Night Live comedians trying to make it in the film world. I'm not sure Ron Burgundy is a character from SNL which brought the big screen, but it certainly has that flavor it.Well, many of the reasons that I absolutely hate this film falls in line with many of the reasons I stopped watching SNL decades. The characters in Anchorman (and SNL) is dumbed down to such a low level that it is difficult to stretch and laugh constantly. Most of the evidence of the humor in this film is derived from the characters who are just plain stupid in normal situations. It can be used effectively if it is not cooked in the film, but it just never ends in this movie.A some positive things about this movie: There really was not much of potty humor that seems to be required in almost every Hollywood comedy these days. Also, Christina Applegate does a decent job as a most talented reporter, and in fact it is much more fun than most of the characters when she plays it straight against the stupidity of the other characters. It is in fact a completely opposite character of her time as Kelly Bundy on Married ... with Children, she did very well. Also, it seems to be more attractive than the passage of time - it looks quite impressive in many of the shots. A final positive note: The theater was almost completely empty on the opening weekend is Friday night.If I went to this movie myself (which wouldnt really happened), I would have gone in the first 20 minutes. There are some very unpleasant scenes, some intense action, emotional scenes and of course, love and also some funny moments - I think this movie has a little bit of everything. This movie is about action, so do not expect it to be, but the key element is the theme of brotherhood that I loved.
