Users review: I just looked at the votes that people have already cast for this movie in imdb.com, and I'm amazed at how much this movie a 10! There must be some hard core fans of Ferrell there.Let me first state that I am not familiar with Will Ferrell, but I assume that he is one of a long line of Saturday Night Live comedians trying to make it in the film world. I'm not sure Ron Burgundy is a character from SNL which brought the big screen, but it certainly has that flavor it.Well, many of the reasons that I absolutely hate this film falls in line with many of the reasons I stopped watching SNL decades. The characters in Anchorman (and SNL) is dumbed down to such a low level that it is difficult to stretch and laugh constantly. Most of the evidence of the humor in this film is derived from the characters who are just plain stupid in normal situations. It can be used effectively if it is not cooked in the film, but it just never ends in this movie.A some positive things about this movie: There really was not much of potty humor that seems to be required in almost every Hollywood comedy these days. Also, Christina Applegate does a decent job as a most talented reporter, and in fact it is much more fun than most of the characters when she plays it straight against the stupidity of the other characters. It is in fact a completely opposite character of her time as Kelly Bundy on Married ... with Children, she did very well. Also, it seems to be more attractive than the passage of time - it looks quite impressive in many of the shots. A final positive note: The theater was almost completely empty on the opening weekend is Friday night.If I went to this movie myself (which wouldnt really happened), I would have gone in the first 20 minutes. Since I was with a friend (her proposed film, of course), I roughed it.I would say that the judgment of the votes on imdb, many people look like the kind of humor. So, if you think that the previews of this movie is a lot of fun, you'll probably enjoy the movie - the previews the soul of the film captures very well, without showing you all the things you think are funny stuff . B.Ed. if you arent sure if you will like this movie based on what you see in the previews, you should stay away - this movie gets very sticky and predictable fast.My rating: 1 (... Just because 0 was not an option) |
